Youth Ambassadors
Empowering youth to become advocates for their local Aboriginal community
The Burraga Foundation Youth Ambassadors program empowers youth to become advocates for their local Aboriginal community through a structured community engagement, consultation and digital story-creation process.
Groups of 20 youths are brought together in the company of Storylines facilitators to share and discuss what is important to them about their local community, and to discuss issues that are most relevant to them. Groups form Storylines teams and are trained on how best to use mobile technology to produce and publish digital stories.
Storylines teams, with the appropriate guardian permissions and in the company of Storylines facilitators, are connected to community members and Elders, enabling intergenerational learning experiences that are recorded and produced into stories.
The opportunity to become a Storylines Ambassador empowers participants to achieve a better understanding of their local community, contribute to their community, and voice their perspectives through story.
